Episode 5: Best of TEL 2025
Q: Why did you choose this paper? What was important about it?
Postpartum hemorrhage remains one of the leading causes of maternal death and mobility worldwide; thus, there's a significant need for better interventions; this review needed to fill a major evidence gap.
Episode 5: Best of TEL 2025
Q: What did this study find, and I also want to ask, especially since you mentioned the earlier reviews, were you surprised by the findings?
The updated review included three highly scrutinized RCTs and found that prophylactic TSA does not reduce the incidence of PPH and there was also no meaningful reduction in the need for blood transfusion. This surprised many clinicians because TXA has been very effectively used for established PPH.
Episode 5: Best of TEL 2025
Q: Can you tell me which paper it is that you've chosen to talk about today?
The paper that I have chosen is from the Cochrane Systemic Review Database called Tranexamic Acid for Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage After Vaginal Birth, by Christina Rova and co-authors.
Perth Pearls with Pierre Tiberghien and Aaron Hess
Q: What advice would you give to first-time attendees at a congress like this?
Engage actively through workshops and networking to enhance your experience.
Perth Pearls with Pierre Tiberghien and Aaron Hess
Q: What can you tell us about your role as ISBT President?
I oversee the development of transfusion medicine through various global initiatives and collaborations.
