Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Success Formula Behind 20 Years of Entrepreneurship: Jann Tadorian, Entrepreneur & Investor (EP#569)
Q: What is that “success formula” of entrepreneurship?
Over 20 years, the guest identifies core pillars: social competence, mindset, lifelong learning, multicultural execution, domain knowledge, and luck/timing, all of which must be multiplied together to avoid weakening the overall outcome.
The Success Formula Behind 20 Years of Entrepreneurship: Jann Tadorian, Entrepreneur & Investor (EP#569)
Q: Who or what inspired you to take that path as an entrepreneur?
The guest explains that curiosity and a desire for independence were primary drivers, rather than a single master plan, and that opportunities arose from a mindset of learning and openness to new things.
From Launch to a Landmark Exit to Mistral in 18 Months: Dennis Just, Emmi AI (EP#567)
Q: What will your role be after the close, and how will Emmi operate inside the Mistral organization?
Emmi will become a vertical within Mistral—Emmi Industrial Engineering—continuing core R&D under Johannes while serving the big customers with the capabilities the team has built. Some functions will be integrated away, but the founding team will keep leadership roles and contribute at the VP level to ensure continuity and execution against the combined vision.
From Launch to a Landmark Exit to Mistral in 18 Months: Dennis Just, Emmi AI (EP#567)
Q: There were other offers on the table—why choose Mistral specifically over others like OpenAI or Anthropic?
Because Mistral offered a compelling combination of strategic alignment, a strong European base, and a plan to keep the Emmi DNA intact while accelerating growth. They provided the best path to scale the business, retain leadership, and leverage an extensive go-to-market network in Europe and beyond, creating a win-win for both sides and for investors.
From Launch to a Landmark Exit to Mistral in 18 Months: Dennis Just, Emmi AI (EP#567)
Q: Dennis, take us back to the decision to pursue exit rather than fundraising, especially given you were profitable from the start. Why was this the right strategy?
The decision was driven by a belief that partnering with a big, capable go-to-market engine would unlock the fastest path to scale and impact, while preserving the research-led culture. The team judged that joining a larger entity would give them the resources and reach to commercialize their deep-tech breakthroughs more rapidly, rather than stretching themselves thin with a multi-year fundraising race.
