David - You are one of the few people covering the Hawkeyes that has some guts and speaks truth to power. You need to change your co-host. No fire/monotone, no insight, Ferentz-apologist.

  • Enjoy it

I enjoy the show but sometimes the audio is not as good as it could be. Something probably that’s easy to improve.

  • Yikes

David is a homer who can’t think outside the box. He doesn’t bring much to the table and just shoots from the hip the whole podcast. It’s a painful listen but I am sure Iowans appreciate how homer he is. He doesn’t know the x and o and it’s just bad for anyone to listen besides a homer Iowan

  • Miller on Podcast

It was great you having Jon Miller on your podcast, next time let Jon answer the questions, he’s forgotten more about Iowa football than you know at this point.

  • QB - spring 21.

Total disagreement about QBs with you both. Spencer looks like a clear leader, even more than two weeks ago, and Deuce coming on, to get basically even with Padilla. I like them all but Petras is a leader.

MAILBAG: HawkeyeInsider Answers YOUR Iowa Football 2026 Questions
Q: Who is the breakout candidate at tight end, and what about Ostrenga's role?
DJ Vonnahme leads the tight end room, with Thomas Meyer and Ostrenga expected to provide significant snaps; Ostrenga is viewed as a senior leader and potential contributor, though his role will depend on health and how the staff uses the depth chart.
MAILBAG: HawkeyeInsider Answers YOUR Iowa Football 2026 Questions
Q: Who do you expect to start at quarterback against Northern Illinois?
The expectation is to see both Peck and Hank in competition, with discussions suggesting a pecking order will be established after the final scrimmage; the starter could depend on practice performance and the coaching staff's assessment.
MAILBAG: HawkeyeInsider Answers YOUR Iowa Football 2026 Questions
Q: What are your initial thoughts on the new college football calendar changes and the portal window?
We acknowledge the changes—shorter portal window, two off-season periods, and fewer preseason practices—and we expect the calendar to influence preparation and how teams allocate practice time, but we won't fully know the impact until later in the season.
Exclusive: NBA Draft Invitee Bennett Stirtz Joins Swarmcast
Q: Why did you decide not to pursue the 'testing the waters' option this year as opposed to last year?
It's draining to go through the process; focusing on workouts and the combine, while staying connected with the Iowa program and family, felt more sustainable and beneficial for long-term growth.
Exclusive: NBA Draft Invitee Bennett Stirtz Joins Swarmcast
Q: What did you take away from the Combine, and how did it influence how teams approached you after?
The combine reinforced that interviews and 3v3 play matter more than shooting drills; it's about being seen in a team basketball context and making a strong impression in person.
