Standard Orbit: A Star Trek Original Series Podcast

Standard orbit still one of my favorite podcasts

On a previous review, I said the hosts needed to get back to talking about the 1960s series. Since then they have done so, so I'm giving another star. It's decent conversation and I am really glad they are going deeper into original episodes that don't get talked about much, like the last episode on Peice of the Action, my favorite comedy episode of the original.

Love this podcast! The insightful discussion by each of the hosts has really made me see the series and each of the episodes in entirely new ways. It’s almost like watching them for the first time! Thanks to Ken, Hayley and Zach for the tremendous time and efforts they put into this show. I can’t wait for the next episode to drop!

The most wonderful part of the Star Trek experience is belonging to a community of intellectuals. Which leaves one to (logically) question, what is Hayley doing here? It’s not only that she lacks insight or cogent thoughts, it is also that she seems to not do her homework. She talks about the topic without the extra knowledge (forgets the scene, hasn’t read the novel, etc...). Her thoughts meander and are punctuated only by inane cackling. Uhh like yeah ya know, hard to listen to.

This has been a great show for a long time and the dynamic is what makes it. The addition of Haley has put it over the top. Keep it up guys!

The addition of Hayley Stoddart to the show has given the show a feminine edge to this discussion about TOS. She deserves all of the credit. All three hosts bring an interesting and exciting way to talk about the series that started it all.

I was actually added to The Babel Conference before listening to any of the podcasts. I started listening to The Edge as it was the one about the current show. After I had caught up on that, I went back to the beginning and listened to all the non-commentary episodes. This is an excellent TOS podcast. It has inspired me for a few things I'm developing for a site that I contribute to. The main one is The Essentials episodes. Thank you all for helping to fan my fandom. LLAP

In a recent episode, one of the hosts said that the aim of this podcast was to be informative and entertaining. Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! This show is quickly becoming my favorite on the Trek.fm network, largely because of the rapport between the hosts and for the tone that they set. All opinions are welcome here, without fear of ridicule, Thank you, Ken and Zach, for all of your hard work to make this such a great show. It is much appreciated.

While my first contact with Star Trek was TNG during its original run and on through Voyager, TOS deserves its honored place among the Star Trek series. This well hosted podcast intelligently and entertainingly discusses the series, the times, the lore, the characters, and various other related topics. Especially enjyable are the lively discussions amongst the hosts (both the original and subsequent hosts) Keep up the good work Trek.fm and the Standard Orbit team!

I listent every week and this is by far one of the best podcasts on this network.

Another excellent podcast from the Trek.fm network. The hosts have changed a few times now, but Standard Orbit remains an enjoyable listen.

Standard Orbit is another quality show from Trek.fm! The host's enthusiasim and knowledge for TOS and its accompanying films creates an entertaining, rich listening experience.

Zach & Ken make TOS fun again with their great insights and clever conversation. As a TNG fan, I'm not as familiar with TOS but can follow their episodes with ease. Each week I look forward to listening. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Under new hosts Zach & Ken 'the Commodore', this has become weekly appointment listening for me. Covering all kinds of details about principally TOS and beyond, the hosts are likeable, engaging, thought-provoking and importantly not afraid to find the fun in Star Trek, and in TOS there's plenty to be had. Keep flying guys!
