  • Snark, humor, horror & sci-fi 🎬🎨👍🎉

Summer continues to be entertaining & informative as well as arrange fascinating people to interview. Many geeky topics are discussed but if for example, you’ve ever wondered how an indie & or horror convention was set up or how films get made on a budget this is a podcast for you. Conventions (& sci fi charities) of all kinds are reviewed, discussed & geeked over. Spock 🖖🏻, Freddie & Ivanova I’m sure would approve!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

“Ancestral Recall”: Jordan Clark and Atagun Ílhan collaborating with history
Q: Is there more to the story beyond the five issues we have, or a different adventure on the books for you two?
There is openness to continuing the world of Ancestral Recall, with both creators sketching future possibilities. The team would like to pursue additional installments or related projects, contingent on sales and ongoing interest from publishers and fans.
“Ancestral Recall”: Jordan Clark and Atagun Ílhan collaborating with history
Q: How did you break down the story and what did the collaboration look like in practice?
Jordan and Atagun describe a back-and-forth process: initial visual inspiration, open dialogue about character look and settings, and a joint effort to ensure the visuals match the core themes. The partnership felt equal and iterative, with room for experimentation and personal input from both sides.
“Ancestral Recall”: Jordan Clark and Atagun Ílhan collaborating with history
Q: So, talk about Ancestral Recall. Where did this story come from and how did you approach the best way to tell it?
The project grew out of our Milestone Initiative experience and Syracuse connection, where the idea to explore Black history through a superhero lens emerged. We discussed story direction, collaborated on character design, and balanced Afrofuturist fantasy with respectful representation, while remaining flexible to each other's creative instincts.
“The Yeti”: Making a Yeti movie because there just weren’t enough
Q: Which came first, the desire to tell a Yeti story or to wrap it around parental trauma?
Parental trauma was a recurring theme for the writers, and the Yeti served as the catalyst that amplifies those family dynamics, making the monster a narrative device rather than the sole focus.
“The Yeti”: Making a Yeti movie because there just weren’t enough
Q: Was there a particular yeti legend or story that you wanted to follow?
They aimed to explore true myths but chose to craft their own unique version set in Alaska, with a focus on how the Yeti interacts with and reveals the characters' ambitions and fears, rather than strictly adhering to a single legend.
