The Antidote by Karen Russell was a National Book Award Finalist, as well as Ian's choice for our July read! He seems to have accidentally picked a theme this summer for historical texts set in the west that have to do with land use. The Antidote fol... more
For June and Pride, Ronnie chose a modern retelling of Icarus by K. Ancrum! We'll spoil the discussion a little bit and let you know here that we loved the novel! Still, there's a lot to discuss. Icarus retells the classic myth, but instead, Icarus i... more

Ronnie and Ian do an excellent job discussing books that they have read. They show how different people can read the same story, have different opinions and still get along. It’s wonderful to hear them discuss stories that I have also read. I love how they agree with things that I have found while reading the story AND point out things I missed or show a different way to view the story. I have enjoyed every story this year. Can’t wait for the next book and episode!!
I loved the first episode! Ronnie did a great job asking questions and keeping the discussion on track. Ian had LOTS of knowledge of the writer’s previous stories and made some interesting correlations to them in this book. Can’t wait for the next book and episode!!
Loved this episode.
Felt very organized, Ronnie did a great job or driving the conversation, and Ian had a lot background knowledge on King’s universe add depth to the overall review.
Looking forward to future episodes.
