  • You better like roundball, or else

When are they going to relegate Happer to Creighton athletics hours? Not sure why 1620 insists on giving a show to hoops head who isn’t interested/isn’t knowledgeable on topics outside of college basketball …especially in a football dominant market. Like October to April is just a giant college hoops tongue bath coming from this guy. Dude sucks.

  • Schaefer Doesn’t Tip

Mike Schaefer admitted to not taking part in tipping on this show. Citing Mr Pink’s arguments from Reservoir Dogs. The flaw is that Mr Pink claims servers make minimum wage and that we don’t tip other minimum wage employees. Servers do not make minimum wage they make “server minimum wage” in Nebraska it is currently $2.13 an hour. The economic model is built on exploiting vulnerable workers and by not tipping he takes it out on the people with the least power in the situation. If he’d like to ad... more

  • Where’s Nick?

Nick is still on the Billboard but not on the air, what gives? Is it that when Matt fails you won’t have to retool the Billboard for Nick upon his return? Is Nick secretly behind the scenes coaching Lil Matt? Are you cheap? Lazy? Both? Personally I think you’ve dumbed down the show by trying to lure in a younger audience. Gary’s getting long in the tooth but is still a show saver except when the youngster goes on a silly rant about something totally unrelated to anything in an intellectual perso... more

  • Too Soon?

You replaced Nick with a kid, who sounds like…..a kid. I appreciate his effort, but he’s in over his head. How could he not be when the most significant parts of Nebraska sports history happened before he was born?

This one is on management. I find the show much harder to listen too. Could be me. I simply change the channel.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Did Someone Say Schedules - 3
Q: So you do this every year, do you get any of them right?
He noted that accuracy is generally low, with a small percentage of correct placements and times, but that the exercise remains a challenging and iterative effort.
Mark Kingston: Creighton Baseball Head Coach - 10
Q: Should we get the Dolphins question going first?
Kingston acknowledges the weekend's draft discussions and shifts the focus back to Creighton, noting the importance of maintaining focus on the team and upcoming series.
Lauren Michelson KETV - 11
Q: What sparked the idea for a job swap between the hosts and Lauren Michelson?
They riff on a mutual curiosity about how different media roles work, then formalize it as a plan to swap duties for a day to test skills and generate fresh, cross-format content.
John Higgins: Former CBB Official - 8
Q: How big of an honor is it to be chosen to be part of these final four crews, to be part of this whole event here, even just to be part of the sweet 16 or the elite eight?
Higgins describes it as a pinnacle achievement, highlighting the small pool of officials who reach the final rounds and the sense of pride in contributing to top-tier college basketball, while also acknowledging the effort and politics involved in staying at that elite level.
Sautter's High School Sports Update - 7
Q: What are the biggest pressures facing Class A football with transfer activity and open enrollment?
The guests explain that top programs are pulling in talent through transfers, which creates imbalance; the NSAA is constrained by existing laws, and scheduling changes aim to balance competitive play without fundamentally changing school eligibility rules.
