  • Comprehensive Analysis of Franchises!

Great podcast for completists! Gotta watch every movie no matter how crazy they get. Child star check-in is one of my favorite parts and I love the catchy theme song.

  • THE movie sequel podcast

I found this show while looking for podcasts about Tremors, but had to stick around because these hosts are hilarious as they cover films series that offer diminishing and dubious returns. Start with something your familiar with and you’ll be hooked!

  • So good!

I love this show. They are a hilarious bunch and they have me wanting to watch movies I never thought I'd want to. They also get some amazing guests and interviews. They had the editor of the Purge and the screenwriter of the second Dragonheart movie, and I can't wait to see what other series they tackle and who else they can find to talk to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 288 - The Nun II (GUEST: Frank Arthur Smith)
Q: Do you think The Nun II successfully expands the Conjuring universe while keeping the core scares?
Yes, with better-crafted scares, real locations, and a two-plot structure that dovetails nicely, plus a stronger presence of the nun as the primary horror force.
Ep 288 - The Nun II (GUEST: Frank Arthur Smith)
Q: What is your relationship to nuns and what drew you to The Nun II as a project?
The guest talks about growing up Catholic and how the nun lore fascinated him, explaining how the film uses religious symbolism respectfully while delivering contemporary horror thrills.
Ep 287 - The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (GUEST: Peter Gvozdas)
Q: What was it like editing the nightmarish opening sequence with a real contortionist and how did you balance practical effects with VFX?
The sequence was shot in a way that allowed us to stage the action with the contortionist and then layer in visual effects to replace faces, preserving the realism of motion while ensuring the shot was safe for the performer and impactful for the audience.
Ep 287 - The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (GUEST: Peter Gvozdas)
Q: How did you join the project and what was it like coming into a third sequel with an established visual language?
I joined after working on related projects; it was exciting to stay in the same creative orbit, coordinate ADR, and align with James Wan and the director to maintain continuity while allowing fresh storytelling through editing choices.
Ep 302 - The Cutting Edge (GUEST: Kate Vu)
Q: What was it like watching the film as an adult and reflecting on the era it came from?
She notes the movie came out before she was born and reflects on how the nostalgia of 90s montages and Olympic framing feels different when viewed with adult awareness, offering a lens on how cultural memory shifts over time.
