This show seems to have confused the concept of story telling with narration. Some may assert that my view is just semantics, but overall for me it was okay. Mr. Jiry definitely did his best and Mr. Blackwood made the show a little better. Some of the stories were pretty intense while others felt like they fell short. After listening to 16 seasons, I hoped the show would improve, however, for me it didn't. Best wishes for the show and podcast.
This is one of the best podcasts I’ve listened to over the years. I only gave it 4 stars because I miss Otis. Malcolm has a wonderful voice and I enjoy his stories, but over the years Otis has been “the voice”. With Otis just gone with no notice, the show feels a bit empty.
Seems to be significantly less content with Malcolm. Otis was a familiar voice I always looked forward to,and that helped me during a hard time. He got 5 stars. Not this
Still well-produced and competently told, Scary Stories Told in the Dark lost its quiet terror when Otis Jiry left. Nothing is “wrong” now — and that’s the problem. Horror needs unease, restraint, and breath between words. The stories remain. The haunting does not.
This podcast is much better now that Otis Jiry is gone. He overacts and emotes the same way regardless of what he is narrating. The new narrator is so much better.
