  • Float level adjustment in a carby.

G’day Greg, I have listened to every podcast and I’m 99.9% impressed with the way that you apply your knowledge and skills to interviewing your guests.

The .1% that becomes a negative is the music and advertising. They are too loud in comparison to the speech, especially when the music is at the same time as the spoken word.

This may only be a small criticism, but it will stop a sudden dive for the volume control on the stereo when the music is happening.

Cheers and thanks for a great show, ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Brendon Leitch | Part 1 - workshop lessons & cold calls
Q: At around age 13 you started door-knocking for sponsorship; how did you approach it and what was the reaction from local businesses?
I explained my racing goals in a simple, consistent way, handed out hundreds of proposals, and leveraged family help to polish presentations; though the responses varied, the persistence eventually paid off with initial sponsorships that funded early racing efforts.
The Motorsport Brief | a champion and one in the making
Q: Can we start with a backstory on how this all came together for you and Scott Pedder's team?
Jackson explains the process of purchasing the car, bring in Scott Pedder, and forming a two-car factory-like outfit with professional discipline, outlining how the collaboration moved from casual to a formal, two-car operation.
Kenny Smith | Part 2 - mentoring Scott Dixon & iconic single seaters.
Q: Did you ever consider Europe and F1 opportunities seriously, and what held you back?
Kenny explains that while there were early talks and potential paths to Europe, personal choices, timing, and staying close to family and other commitments influenced his decision to remain in the NZ/Australian scene, with optimistic reflections on what might have been.
James Courtney | Part 1 - cut throat karting & losing a good mate
Q: What was the turning point that pushed you from karting toward a professional open-wheel career?
A combination of Alan Gow's mentorship and financial backing for Formula Ford, along with Neil Crompton's encouragement, created a concrete pathway from karting to Formula Ford and beyond, enabling growth into higher levels of competition.
James Courtney | Part 1 - cut throat karting & losing a good mate
Q: Tell me the backstory to your name, Giovanni Cotini, and how that influenced your path into racing.
James explains that the initial suggestion to adopt a European-sounding name came from others in the industry to help him fit the European racing scene, but he kept the name James Courtney as the identity that stuck and carried him forward.
