  • Love the podcast!

In 2024 we decided to use RUST in our project for a component. I was sold from the first. I'm not doing development in this team; im leading the team and do devops. Even so, I did some Rust debugging. I found this podcast and i love it!

  • Podcast from a good, strong and heartfelt place

    I rarely listen several times to the same episode, but I found myself doing it here;

Then I went on to read the host’s bio and I understood…

I wish more content like this come up over time, slowly but surely ie “rustly” :)

    Thanks for this show.

  • Accessible, clear and inspiring!

An inspiring podcast for developers who want to know about high-impact software implemented with Rust, by talented people. 😎

It is accessible to Rust beginners (I am a seasoned Java developer) and non native English-speakers. 🐣 🌐

What’s more, the interviews are really focused and not excessively chatty like many other podcasts… 😇

Rust4Linux with Danilo Krummrich
Q: How does working in the Linux kernel really look like?
There are various aspects including reviewing patches, maintaining subsystems, and coordinating with other developers. A significant amount of time goes into emails and discussions.
Rust4Linux with Danilo Krummrich
Q: Was it worth it? Are there any improvements now in working with kernel drivers now that we have Rust support?
Absolutely. There are many advantages including improved safety and reliability, enhanced type system guidance, which leads to better API usage and less debugging complexity.
Roc with Richard Feldman
Q: What is your message to the Rust community?
Focus on the end user and keep that as the North Star when considering various priorities.
Scythe with Andrew Tinka
Q: What is the current state of the code base? How much of it is in Rust? How much of it is in C++? Do you still use ROS and to what extent?
Yes, so the ROS is the middleware that is the backbone of the system. Almost all of our autonomy code is in Rust, while most of our perception stack is in C++.
Scythe with Andrew Tinka
Q: Would you describe Scythe as a software company, a hardware company, a robotics company, or something else entirely?
I think it is a robotics company in that the hardware and the software teams both have an essential contribution and they have to pull together.
