  • A duo made for greatness

This is one of my top favorite podcasts on Video game music, Rob comes in with a lot of passion for music and hard games he rarely completes, and Pernell is an absolute beast on VGM knowledge and completes videogames on hard modes like crazy!

If you like passion, fun anecdotes and banger music, this is the place to be!

  • VGM, the king of music in other media

    Hi Rob and Pernell,

I am a long time listener, first time suggester. For some reason, I couldn’t send you my topic/track suggestions through your email, so here I am.

For the topic, I was thinking that you guys could do Mobile Madness, an episode of music from only IOS or Android games.

For the track, I want to suggest this song from Angry Birds Epic, ā€œKing Pig and His Manic Minionsā€, composed by Trollhorn a.k.a Henri Sorvali.

When I played this game on my phone for the first time, I thought i... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 39-7 Puppets with ModalModule
Q: What was the initial concept or vibe for Decline's Drops, and how did the world design influence the music you composed?
The initial vibe was folky and acoustic, built from Draz's guitar idea, and as the game progresses, the action ramps up which pushed the music to become more energetic and patch together themes across worlds.
Episode 39-7 Puppets with ModalModule
Q: Which track would you like to listen to first? Are the ones that you brought with you today?
I'd like to start with a track from Final Fantasy XIII, Choose to Fight by Masashi Hamauzu, and then we'll discuss the context and guesses around its puppetry theme.
R&P Chat 38-8 Hoagies, Subs, and Other Jawns
Q: Chris, what are some of the last two or three board games that you played that stuck out to you?
The one that really stuck out was my purchase of the 42nd edition of Cosmic Encounter, which I played recently and had a lot of fun with.
Episode 38-6 In Concert with the NJGSO!
Q: So can you think of a track from a particular game that you would like to have the orchestra perform, but you haven't attempted it?
I want to work on a couple of arrangements myself. I love the Kid Icarus soundtrack, and I would love to do a medley of that, but I feel like it's so fun.
Episode 38-6 In Concert with the NJGSO!
Q: Is this a favorite of the orchestra to play, or is this?
I think one of them for sure. I feel like this and Bloodborne, like the ones we showed tonight, were all big hits at the group.
