Pete’s Busy Saving Lives and Breaking Hearts
Q: Do you plan for Kiki to compete beyond grassroots, and if so, how far would you take her career?
They discuss realistic trajectories for the horse, balancing ambition with practicality, considering two-star and novice levels, and the possibility of sharing riding duties or allowing a future owner to take the reins if the horse progresses.
Pete’s Busy Saving Lives and Breaking Hearts
Q: If you get one wish that affects everyone in the world, what would you wish for and what would be the trade-offs?
They explore whether a universal wish (like endless health or happiness) would be good or could backfire (e.g., affecting the economy or human motivation for work and innovation). They acknowledge that seemingly noble wishes can have complex, systemic consequences and debate what would truly benefit the world in a sustainable way.
Someone Get Hobs a Wine!
Q: If you could take a sabbatical, what would you do?
Travel extensively, including time spent ranching in Canada and volunteering with Horizon Horseback in Africa, plus experiences in Asia and South America to broaden horizons.
The Cat Flap Fiasco!
Q: Would you accept a million pounds to air every fight you've had on a reality show?
They would likely accept for the sympathy and attention, but they question whether the money would be enough for the longer-term impact and the potential reputational cost.
Thanks For Coming To Our TED Talk!
Q: Hi Meg and Hobs, what should I consider when buying my first horse if I'm coming back to riding after a long break?
Look for a horse that suits your current riding level and goals, consider sharing arrangements to start safely, and involve an experienced advisor or trainer to assess the horse's temperament and suitability.
