《あらすじ》調理が楽しくなってきた大吉は、弥生の家族に差し入れをしようと腕を振るう。弥生の都合を電話で確認すると、看護師を辞めたと弥生から聞かされ驚いた。大吉と節子は野田家へ急ぐ。弥生は仕事と家事の両立は困難だったと語る。子どもたちの生活が乱れ、武志が警察沙汰を起こしたことを打ち明ける。
《対談》弥生は誕生日を家族には祝ってもらえず寂しい思いをしていたが、入院中の小学生、恵美に思わぬプレゼントをもらい涙をこぼす。山根基世は恵美がプレゼントに添えたメッセージに注目。働く弥生の「手」が好きだと語る恵美。山根は自身の取材体験や、感銘を受けた映画を例に出し、橋田壽賀子が「手」に込めたメッセージを紐解く。また、セリフを朗読する時はその人物の顔をイメージすることが大切だと山根。短いセリフながらも重要な役を演じる恵美もしっかり人物像をつかんで臨んだとのことだ。

《あらすじ》節子が葉子のマンションを訪れ、太郎の食事の世話をする。節子が自分の味方になったと察した太郎は大喜びだ。一方、弥生は入院中の小学生、恵美に誕生日プレゼントをもらう。家で包みを開け、添えられた思いのこもったメッセージを聴いて弥生は涙をこぼす。その時、警察から武史が補導されたと電話が入る。
