  • Deeply grateful for this podcast!

This is an amazing resource! I am using all these lessons on my way to growing my private practice.

I love Jennifer and she has a gift for engaging wonderful speakers. There hasn’t been one single episode l haven’t loved. My favorite so far was about managing the fear and anxiety when starting to do something new. I really gained a lot from that episode.

  • Great for motivation!

When I was doing a job I didn’t love that required a lot of driving, I spent all my time driving listening to this podcast! It really helped me imagine myself as a private practice owner. You won’t get too much in the way of concrete steps for starting your own practice, but it’s so great for motivation, encouragement, and mindset! I would definitely give it a lot of credit for helping me decide to try PP!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Beyond Carb Counting: A Real-Life Approach to Type 1 Diabetes Nutrition
Q: What advice would you give to other dietitians wanting to enter the Type 1 space?
Get involved with the Type 1 community, attend conferences, network, and share your perspective. There's demand for diverse voices, even if it's not entirely novel—different people need to hear it from different voices.
Beyond Carb Counting: A Real-Life Approach to Type 1 Diabetes Nutrition
Q: What makes your private practice model sustainable and scalable?
I use three main offers: self-pay private practice, a group program, and a recipe club with carb counts. Insurance also plays a role, but the mix allows me to help more people while keeping capacity and quality high.
Beyond Carb Counting: A Real-Life Approach to Type 1 Diabetes Nutrition
Q: How did you become a Type 1 diabetes dietitian and what shaped your niche?
I was diagnosed with Type 1 as a child, faced many struggles, and learned early that a balanced, flexible approach beats rigidity. That experience inspired me to focus on Type 1 and to build a practice that combines education, support, and practical nutrition strategies for real life.
What Dietitians Are Missing About Celiac Disease
Q: What are some pain points clients face when they're diagnosed or seeking care?
Patients often endure years of misdiagnosis or dismissal before an accurate diagnosis, experience emotional and social tolls, face challenges with adherence and nutrition education, and rely on dietitians to help navigate testing, inflammation, and long-term health maintenance.
What Dietitians Are Missing About Celiac Disease
Q: What is celiac disease and why is gluten-free so important?
Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition where gluten triggers an immune response that damages the small intestine. Gluten-free is the essential treatment, but the diet is complex and requires careful management, as symptoms can be non-classic and inflammation affects overall health beyond the gut.
