Mixing serious analysis and humor, the co-hosts (Justin and Kurt) discuss classic or contemporary works of crime fiction in each episode. In addition to major works, they offer shorter reviews, and examine noir-ish topics such as alcoholism in detective fiction, the femme fatale, and race and labor in crime fiction. Stroll wit... more

I discovered this show a bit late, but as a fan of noir I really enjoy listening to the episodes. The hosts did a great job, the topics were interesting and well researched, and I learned about some noir books that I wasn’t aware of. Thanks for producing this wonderful podcast.
Really interesting and wide-ranging podcast. I had never thought of The Third Man as noir, but it seems pretty obvious when they discuss it. Well worth a dig through the previous episodes.
Good podcast
These guys are top-notch. The reviews are not pretentious, the episodes are lively, and the curation of the books is extremely helpful for anyone entering into a stint of noir reading. There is also a good mix of books from men and women, black and white, and local (US) and international authors. A really excellent way to complement your own reading of the books. Highly recommended.
These guys, especially Justin, just aren’t anti-racist enough. When you aren’t sufficiently anti-racist, that means you are racist. They need to dig deep, and start doing the work.
