Feels like you’re hanging out with 2 friends talking about LOTR.
I like the show, but honestly Jess says things sometimes that just do not make her sound like a very good person. Steals thing from bars and restaurants when drunk (laughs it off as a quirky lil thing about her), doesn’t think you should have to clean up your garbage after watching a movie at a theater. There’s been other stuff but those two really jumped out at me.
On top of that, she sometimes will have a take that is demonstrably wrong based on the lore, and will defend her incorrect point ... more
I'm an establisted Tolkien fan, but not a hardline purist. I've read Hob, LotR, Sil, CoH, FoG. I'm enjoying this as some light listening while I work, and it's fun to hear someone near my level give their thoughts, as none of my IRL friends know the lore. It's also refreshing to hear Jessica's POV, to help me understand how it is for my friends seeing this show as new fans to the lore. I'm loving hearing the recaps on each character, as it can be more meandering and convoluted in the books. Fun ... more
I have never read any of Tolkien’s books before. But it’s okay because Alex has and knows exactly what he’s talking about! And Jessica is a newbie too, there to help us along the way! It’s great deep dive into Lord of the Rings lore and very listener friendly!
