This show deserves more accolades than most. The characters are have realistic backstories, moral codes, and dilemmas, with a story that is gripping from start to finish, infused with beautiful cinematography and fantastic musical score. Recommended this show to numerous people and have yet to hear a negative response. If you're looking for a smart TV show that is anything but formulaic, watch this Perry Mason.
For some reason the original was not used. Instead they re-wrote all the characters and the premise. Why? Pure laziness on the part of HBO. Why not be honest and create your own characters and story?
It is hard not to love the Perry Mason series on HBO. It is hard to listen to this review/recap of it. This podcast is definitely about murder. It murders the English language. It murders the knowledge of history. And murders any understanding of the original character development by Erle Stanley Gardner, as the hosts/commentators carry zero knowledge about the basis for the Perry Mason franchise. To be fair, it does cover and present appreciation and insight into the intricate details of t... more
This podcast is truly enjoyable and isn’t afraid to brainstorm episode theories and analyze characters. It is like sitting with your friends and discussing our thoughts about each episode.
I’m one of those annoying ppl who lacks attention span and is always multitasking while watching tv. This is exactly what I need to follow up with!
A lot of reviewers ask questions like they didn’t watch the show. These guys are great good discussion answer/ ask the same questions I have.
I have been really enjoying the new Perry Mason on HBO. This podcast does a nice discussion after the show broadcasts. The hosts are knowledgeable about production, story, and acting. They offer good insights and theories. I would recommend this for anyone interested in the show.
Glad they are doing the Perry Mason series. Sometimes they need to prep better (Aimee Semple McPherson is mentioned in almost every review of PM but the guys didn’t know about her), but they’re still fun to listen to and help me follow the convoluted plot. Desc
Thanks, guys, for breaking HBO’s Perry Mason episodes down for me. It’s a bit of a jumble in my mind after the show, appreciate you sorting it.
Last week you misstated the iconic Della Street’s name and I forgave you. But seriously, not knowing about the crazy Aimee Semple McPherson’s church in 1920-30’s LA is unforgivable. She is obviously the inspiration for HBO’s pastor. Good grief.
Great discussion and overview pod. Just what I was looking for to chew over each episode.
Love this podcast. Another great on from you guys. Really enjoy the different view points from each of you.
Love to continue on the HBO train listening and talking about great plots and shows. Excited to see where they take us on this adventure!
Thank god they are covering this show! Can’t wait!
