Reviews

4.7 out of 5 stars from 40 ratings
  • Boring

At first there was some effort put into this. Guests and a set and things on display…

Now its just mainly Kevin alone in his basement, talking to himself for 20 minutes. Riveting.

If he had any charisma it wouldn‘t be so bad, but as it is, it‘s awfully boring.

  • Awesome concept

As a kid of the 80’s talking about toys like this is something missing in the genre of podcasts for sure. Great job screenwave!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HCC788 talks JoeFest & Nitro-Viper - Pegwarmers #195
Q: What broader themes about GI Joe history do you highlight when discussing the 1993 era?
The 1993 period was a marathon year for product releases with multiple drivers and vehicles; production decisions, art direction, and rare variants like Nitro-Viper reveal the complexity and rapid expansion of the line, and how those choices influenced collector narratives and the perception of the era.
HCC788 talks JoeFest & Nitro-Viper - Pegwarmers #195
Q: What makes Nitro-Viper historically interesting beyond its lack of a file card?
Nitro-Viper stands out because it lacked a file card, unlike other drivers; a fan-created file card eventually became officially acknowledged in 1994, and the figure sits at a crossroads of line history and JoeCon's evolving legacy, illustrating how fan contributions can affect canon.
HCC788 talks JoeFest & Nitro-Viper - Pegwarmers #195
Q: Can you describe what JoeFest is and why it matters to the community?
JoeFest is an unofficial continuation of JoeCon held in Augusta, Georgia, serving as a central gathering for GI Joe fans, with vendors, creators, and appearances by notable figures; it functions as a yearly family reunion and a place to celebrate the history and ongoing hobby of GI Joe.
Toy Sculptor: Bill Merklein - Pegwarmers #224
Q: So why don't you explain first of how you got into the business and how you did the original GI Joe's.
Bill describes being contacted by an art director, proving he had engineering experience, and taking on the challenge to sculpt the original GI Joe figures, starting with Recondo and expanding to a broader line.
