Sandra voelt zich steeds meer thuis bij het Joods zijn en is blij dat ze eindelijk An’s broer Simon kan ontmoeten. Ze gaat vervolgens samen met haar zoon Stijn naar de plekken uit An’s jeugd. Helaas zonder An.
Sandra verwacht niks meer van An en richt zich op haar eigen onderzoek. Ze duikt de archieven in op zoek naar het verleden van An, maar ze vraagt zich ook af wat het betekent om Joods te zijn. Door dit alles begint het ook bij An te borrelen.
De pijnlijke herinneringen dwingen Sandra de confrontatie aan te gaan over haar ontwrichte jeugd. Maar An herinnert het zich allemaal niet meer en kan weinig met het verdriet van haar dochter. Ze vlucht andermaal weg.
Sandra vraagt zich af of An haar belofte om opener te zijn, zal nakomen. Ze wil met An bespreken hoe het was om als Joods kind ondergedoken te zitten bij een predikantenechtpaar waarin geen ruimte kon zijn voor wie ze was.
