  • It is like “ABA Inside Track”... but for books!

Those of us who long for additional reading suggestions in the field or wish we had the time to participate in a book club have found our new space. Shane and Patrick do an excellent job in this first episode of presenting both the “why” you need to study far beyond the white book and the “how” to get started. I can’t wait to hear more! Five nerdy stars!

S01E08 - Interview with Dr. Bernard Guerin
Q: What is the role of context in therapy and how can therapists help clients gain new audiences or narratives?
Therapists can create new social contexts and audiences (e.g., group activities, art classes, or community engagements) that provide alternative reinforcement and storytelling opportunities, reducing reliance on harmful narratives.
S01E08 - Interview with Dr. Bernard Guerin
Q: How does racism relate to language and power, and what should clinicians focus on beyond stopping racist words?
Racism is largely about social relationships and institutional power; the focus should be on the resources and relationships that enable or constrain behavior, not merely the words themselves.
S01E08 - Interview with Dr. Bernard Guerin
Q: How do you determine when you have enough information to intervene rather than keep gathering more context?
Possibility training helps students avoid jumping to the first believed answer and encourages exploring multiple possibilities before intervening, recognizing that real-life contexts prevent perfectly controlled experiments.
