The biggest surprise was how much referral management and multidisciplinary coordination matters; you must align with referring dentists and plan before proceeding with implants or complex procedures.

Q: Can you give our audience a glimpse into your pathway from growing up in Pittsburgh and your pathway to Baylor?

I grew up on a horse farm near Johnstown, with a family background in medicine; I bounced around during education, worked hard, and eventually found a path that led me to oral surgery through a combination of opportunities in the ER, Navy deferments, and mentors who saw potential in me, which opened the door to Parkland and Baylor.
