Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Season 6 - Episode 7 - Luke Morley - Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter - Thunder, Quireboys, Solo Artist
Q: When approaching a solo album, does it differ from writing a Thunder album for you?
The process is pretty much the same; the main difference is that I'm writing for my own voice, not for Danny's, which subconsciously affects how I write while still relying on the same core approach to crafting songs.
Season 6 - Episode 6 - Phillip Shouse - Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist - Solo Artist/Accept/Gene Simmons/Ace Frehley
Q: What can you tell us about the future of Side One—any plans for Side Two or a full-length release?
There will be more material and a follow-up, potentially a full-length, with already written new tunes and plans to perform songs from those on live shows; the exact format will depend on time, money, and opportunity.
Season 6 - Episode 6 - Phillip Shouse - Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist - Solo Artist/Accept/Gene Simmons/Ace Frehley
Q: Tell me about the recording process and gear—did you go with classic amps, plugins, or something else?
They used real amps to capture authentic tones, avoiding click tracks in the bed tracks, focusing on room sound, and building the arrangement from a live-feel foundation with a mix of familiar and borrowed gear from collaborators.
Season 6 - Episode 6 - Phillip Shouse - Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist - Solo Artist/Accept/Gene Simmons/Ace Frehley
Q: Before we kind of discuss the material, give me a little insight into how this all came to fruition.
Phillip explains the project grew out of celebrating his 50th birthday and a personal push to explore making a solo record after years of performing covers; the goal was to discover his own sound and broaden beyond the single identity of a band member.
Season 5 - Episode 36 - Coosh And Pete Rizzi - Who On Earth
Q: What is the message behind your song 'Lobotomy'?
It's about the addiction we have to technology and social media and how we are losing touch with reality.
