Hello! Welcome to Native Film Talk! The purpose of this podcast is to explore Native representation in film from the perspective of a Native, me. Native American representation in film is as old as the film industry itself, so there is a plethora of content available for review. I plan to watch movies, tv shows, and documentaries from the old westerns, i.e. The Searchers, The Outlaw Josey Wales, t... more

I love the new episodes! I think it’s good to be critical, it pushes our creativity and inspires us to create more joyfully rather than drawing on our pain all the time. Ahoskis! From an Okie Native
I’ve never been to America or met a Native American - so all I know is what I see on film or tv, or read about. So it’s impossible for me to gauge how accurate or fair representation is in these media. This podcast has been so useful and eye-opening - I’ve learned a lot as well as being entertained and turned on to some great stuff.
This is a rare podcast where it’s just such a pleasure to listen to whatever the topic happens to be. While it’s more fun to have watched the media being discussed, even if you haven’t seen them you can still enjoy the podcast’s reviews and commentary. Funny, interesting, educational, chill. I’m a non-Native person in the US and totally enjoy the perspective and research that goes into each episode. Favorite new podcast!!
Listening from Bay Area , California native.
I would love to hear more inclusion of “LatinX/A/O” Indigenous projects like “Maya And The Three” from Netflix, because people forget that us brown folks with Spanish sounding last names are ALSO Indigenous! Our colonizers were Spanish, Portuguese or the occasional French instead of English but we’re all from Turtle Island so WE ARE FAMILY! 🥳🥰🤗
