Great hidden gem 💎
Feels just like sitting around a campfire being told stories meant in equal part to warn and to entertain. A great continuation of the human tradition of oral storytelling. Highly recommended if you enjoy folklore or mythology.
I still love this podcast so much…I love how poetic it is in the story telling. Great for getting comfy cozy as well
I love this podcast so much, really incredible storytelling. Contemporary and captivating, while also echoing ancient voices
This is a fantastic podcast, full of wonderful stories from all over the world. Told in a compelling way, almost like being sat in an old longhouse and having a story performed for you in the old tradition.
Well worth your time, you will not regret it

The passion for myth, folklore, and storytelling that Nicole brings to each episode is palpable. The research, music, and excellent drop-in guests are only outdone by the podcast’s true unsung hero: Nicole’s writing skills. She seriously has some chops! Every now and then a sentence floats by that I have to rewind, sit down and just savor. (The entrance of Baba Yaga’s white legs from the trees, the Sami stumbling upon diseased faces of the dead in the mountain... Nicole Schmidt’s voice shines wh... more
I am so happy to see you making episodes again! I’ve loved listening to this podcast the last few years. Story telling is an amazing thing and every time I listen I’m so intrigued. This podcast has gotten me through a lot of gloomy days and your voice is so fun to listen to. I hope you continue to make more episodes!
The creator brings meticulous research to light with wonderfully chosen musical accompaniment and a truly skilled storytelling style. This podcast has given me doorways into areas of folklore I haven't researched, and enriched some that I have. Bravo.
Very unusual and interesting stories told in a soothing and informative way! Very enjoyable
Memories of the storyteller, the shaman’s compatriot, the wise elders and the master-craft of sitting around the campfire with ears and eyes fixed on the flames or the speaker but fully on the texture, colour, breadth, depth, journey, the fear, laughter but at the chore learning. So settle in your cabin on the furs, around the hearth, under a canopy in a tent of poles and skins, around the central flame as the smoke drifts up through the the flume at the cross beams of staves, mingling with the ... more
i love this podcast! the stories are wonderful and Nicole's voice is perfect for transporting you to these far away locations. the sound quality is perfect.
In a world of awkward-sounding and too-long podcasts, Mythos is refreshing. Her narration is artful and beautifully hypnotic. Sldo, the presentation is fresh and I learn something new every time.
Basically, the idea of this show seems to be to tell the stories of mythology and folkloric creatures, but in a manner similar to the way your parents might tell you a bedtime story. And doing so seems to really bring to life the original purpose of these creatures in a way that other retellings seem to miss. I have nothing against a good academic analysis, but it's also healthy to have that balanced with a good shot of adrenaline now and then. And the host of this show seems to have just the ri... more
