Riffology — Deftones: White Pony (2000)
TL;DR: Deftones dodged the nu-metal pigeonhole and built a shimmering, heavy, cinematic classic. We get into label shenanigans (hi, Maverick/Madonna), the Back to School (Mini Maggit) detour, Terry Date’s dru... more
Anthrax pivot hard into the ’90s on Sound of White Noise—first with John Bush, last with Dan Spitz—and somehow make it feel inevitable rather than mid-life crisis. We dig into why the songs land (drier drums, thicker guitars) and how a label switch p... more

What a find this pod was! Two easy going English gents talking all things rock and metal. There's a lovely chemistry between Neil and Chris. Like listening to mates down the pub. This pod has broadened my musical horizons and is a fixture in my podcasting week. Engaging, informative, nostalgic, entertaining, humourous are all words that come to mind.
In short... Riffology is dead good !!!
I love how these two wise men dissect the albums they choose (and what great choices they make!) with humour, interesting facts and great interviews of the artists...awesome podcast!
So glad that I stumbled into Riffology. The Back in Black and LZ IV episodes are first rate. The fellas do a great job in mixing historical elements of the recordings along with perfect song selections. Keep up the good work!
Really enjoyed, superb conversation on great topics and there is an indie section too! can’t recommend enough!
