今月は「ホッキョクグマ」
この番組が始まった2022年から3年の間に、ホッキョクグマ館の環境も色々と変わっています。
最近の大きな変化と言えば、リラとの繁殖を目指して今年、
鹿児島市平川動物公園からオスの 「ライト」(11歳)がやってきたこと。
2頭のご対面はまだ先のお話ですが、もしかしたら今頃リラはライトの存在を感じて
匂いを嗅いでいるような動きをしているかもしれません。

今月は「ホッキョクグマ」
動物園で暮らすホッキョクグマと違い、北極圏に暮らす野生のホッキョクグマは年間を通して餌を食べられるという環境にはないんです。
春夏秋冬の野生のホッキョクグマの過ごし方や彼らが置かれている環境を知ることで、私たちが今できることについて考えるきっかけにしていただけたらと思います！

陸上の肉食動物で最大の生き物・ホッキョクグマ。
オスは立ち上がると３メートルもの身長になるほど大きな動物なんです。
その見た目に注目されがちですが、実は彼らのすごい能力は「嗅覚」！
なんと30キロ先の獲物の匂いまでわかると言われているんです。
動物園に足を運んだ際には、何かの匂いを嗅いでいるような様子にぜひご注目ください！
