After depression comes acceptance. Mohamed Hassan returns to Christchurch a year after the attacks to speak to a survivor about what it means to finally move on.

After bargaining comes depression. It was felt by Muslims even half a world away, who experienced the 'vicarious trauma' and thought maybe they were right to worry about their safety after all.

After anger comes bargaining. New Zealand's indigenous Maori communities stepped up to protect and care for Muslims after the attacks, drawing on their own experiences with racism and exclusion.

After denial comes anger. After Christchurch - many in the Muslim community felt a deep sense of anger, but those who expressed found themselves targetted and attacked.

Middle East Eye's Mohamed Hassan works through the five stages of grief felt by Muslim New Zealanders after the March 15 attacks. Stage one is denial; he talks to Hassan Raslan, who spent three days helping with the burials.
