  • Audio quality

The hosts’s audio quality is fine. However, as far as I can tell from the sample I tried to listen to, the audio quality of the majority of the guests is far from pleasant.

It sounded like people were using cell phones in hands-free mode or laptops with no directional mic. It made what would otherwise be a professional podcast sound like amateur hour, and it wasn’t listenable for me, no matter how interesting the content.

I use my ears for a living and most of the guests’ sound was like nails ... more

#451 Weight Neutral Coaching: Coaching Beyond Weight Loss
Q: How do you handle clients who come with weight-loss as their sole goal?
Be upfront and gentle: state clearly that weight loss is not coached here but clients may still lose weight as a byproduct; offer to refer to other trainers while inviting them to explore a weight-neutral program focused on their personal goals and well-being.
#451 Weight Neutral Coaching: Coaching Beyond Weight Loss
Q: What are practical steps for a trainer to start transitioning to weight-neutral coaching?
Review marketing materials for weight-loss language, rename classes to reflect functional benefits, train staff to redirect conversations away from dieting, and gradually shift client expectations by highlighting strength, mobility, and energy as core outcomes.
#451 Weight Neutral Coaching: Coaching Beyond Weight Loss
Q: What is weight-neutral coaching and why is it important in fitness spaces?
Weight-neutral coaching focuses on function, autonomy, and psychological well-being rather than shaping the body or achieving weight loss; it creates a supportive culture that emphasizes what clients can do, how they feel, and sustainable engagement with fitness.
#446 Steffie Murray: What It Takes To Be The Strongest Woman
Q: How do you approach training in-season versus off-season?
Off-season involves decompression, lighter, more enjoyable training, and gradual reintroduction to specific events, while in-season emphasizes peaking for the events and reducing overall volume to maintain performance.
#446 Steffie Murray: What It Takes To Be The Strongest Woman
Q: How does the day of a competition typically unfold?
Rosters are announced months in advance, events are drip-fed as weights are revealed, and the day runs through several events within a fairly relaxed, structured schedule, often finishing by late afternoon.
