  • The New Format Is Ruining It

I will preface this by saying I love this show. It’s been a longstanding part of my weekly routine, and I love tuning in to hear the banter and hot takes - but, BUT! The new once a week format is ruining it. The news is stale by the time they get around to it on Wednesday. I know the tradeoff is supposed to be the Q&A added to the longer weekly episodes but I don’t really go to the Loopcast for that kind of content. I want to hear the hosts discuss the news and culture, I’m really not interested... more

  • Great show, new format bad though

I have really enjoyed this show for over a year now, but the new format of it being just once a week leaves me less interested. Doesn’t feel as current and I see myself searching for catholic responses from other sources. Please go back to M/W/F or at least twice a week shows. Your commentary is wanted and needed!

  • Becoming irrelevant

I loved getting news from a Catholic perspective, but with their new schedule the news is old by the time they do an episode. I still appreciate Josh and Erica’s researched analysis, but Tom’s inexperienced pov and arguing is getting old. He usually eventually comes around on a lot but it’s too late.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What If Someone Went Bar-to-Bar Promoting Euthanasia? - Director Interview w/ Andrew Shemin
Q: Why choose a dive bar in Pennsylvania for the setting?
To ensure authenticity and avoid the generic vibe of a New York or LA dive, making the microcosm feel forgotten and real, which enhances the commentary on normalization and community response.
What If Someone Went Bar-to-Bar Promoting Euthanasia? - Director Interview w/ Andrew Shemin
Q: What inspired Breakfast of Champions and its satirical take on euthanasia?
The inspiration came from a real advertising campaign that celebrated assisted suicide; the director wanted to counter that beauty with darkly comedic critique, using a bar setting to show how society could normalize such a thing and to invite viewers to think critically about the implications.
Dr. Scott Hahn on What Catholics Get Wrong About Politics | The Deep
Q: What is one thing Catholics must stop doing and one thing they must start doing immediately?
Stop dwelling on negativity and start focusing on gratitude for the good things in life, as articulated by St. Paul in Philippians 4:8.
Dr. Scott Hahn on What Catholics Get Wrong About Politics | The Deep
Q: What advice do you have for Catholics families in hostile political and cultural landscapes?
Focus on joy, live out values that bring happiness, and actively engage in community and politics while practicing patience and understanding.
Why Is Modern Art So Ugly?! | The Deep
Q: Why is modern art so ugly? Can you just explain to me why? How did we get there?
The reason it's so ugly is because it comes from ugly thought. Art is dependent on thought, and where we lack real truth and goodness in our culture, we will also lack beauty.
