  • Exactly what I was looking for!

I am so very great fun to have found this podcast. All of the offerings from TORCH have become the most valuable cyber tools on my learning.

I have a sincere desire for conversion and currently practice as an observant Noachide.

I live where there are very few orthodox Jewish options for in person learning. The local Chabad Rabbi has been gracious to allow us to learn in his Wednesday night study. We recognize that his main mission is not in making converts, and these podcasts are tremendously... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 73 - 🎤 Ask Away! #22: Mevushal Wine, Hasidic Hats and Mikvah Magic [The Q&A Series]
Q: Can I use the same cup like the men use?
Sure, go for it. There's no reason not to. It's just a cup. You can rinse it out if you don't want to use someone else's cup.
Ep. 73 - 🎤 Ask Away! #22: Mevushal Wine, Hasidic Hats and Mikvah Magic [The Q&A Series]
Q: Can a brine be a substitute for salting?
It specifically needs to be salt and it needs to be a little bit of a more coarse salt when it is salted.
Ep. 73 - 🎤 Ask Away! #22: Mevushal Wine, Hasidic Hats and Mikvah Magic [The Q&A Series]
Q: What is the difference between a Mevushal wine and a regular kosher wine?
A Mevushal wine is pasteurized and decreases a little bit in quality, so it can be handled by non-Jews. Non-mevushal wine cannot be touched by non-Jews once it's opened, while Mevushal wine is permissible to be touched by anyone.
Ep. 73 - 🎤 Ask Away! #22: Mevushal Wine, Hasidic Hats and Mikvah Magic [The Q&A Series]
Q: Given that, why do some of these ultra-orthodox Shlomiels dress with the white socks, with the Shlomiel, with the long dress?
I want to address something different and I'll get to the clothing question. We need to identify as Jews. The halacha requires us to be different, to dress differently. We are supposed to identify ourselves as being a chosen nation.
Ep. 73 - 🎤 Ask Away! #22: Mevushal Wine, Hasidic Hats and Mikvah Magic [The Q&A Series]
Q: Before I ask my question, let me ask you a quick question. Regarding the history of the Jews, what would you say the Golden Age of the Jews were?
The Golden Age was probably King David, King Solomon, when they had the temple. That's the ideal state of the Jewish people, when we're in our homeland and we have our temple and we're able to serve God with an amazing level of clarity.
