  • Disappointing

Far to American centric and seems to rely far too much on AI content. Very disappointing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

LHS Episode #618: Andy Stewart KB1OIQ - Andy's Ham Radio Linux
Q: Why do you avoid packaging Firefox as a SNAP in your distribution?
SNAP packaging imposes path and file-access constraints that break local file references in documentation and workflows; I prefer to provide a Firefox installation that is independent of SNAP packaging to avoid those constraints.
LHS Episode #618: Andy Stewart KB1OIQ - Andy's Ham Radio Linux
Q: How do you handle updates and QA across multiple flavors of Linux and hardware?
About half of the software is compiled from source and half comes from repositories; I use a Python-based GUI automation to test menu paths and ensure the correct processes run, though there can still be occasional issues with specific packages like WSJTX improvements.
LHS Episode #618: Andy Stewart KB1OIQ - Andy's Ham Radio Linux
Q: What inspired you to create Andy's Ham Radio Linux, and how did it evolve from your early ISO remasters?
I started by repackaging a ham-radio-focused subset of Ubuntu-derived software to share with others, but realized the remastered ISO approach was limiting. I moved to a tarball-based installation system that can be installed on any Linux flavor, which broadens compatibility and simplifies upgrades.
LHS Episode #585: SDR++ Brown Deep Dive
Q: What are some of the new features of SDR++ Brown?
New features include improved rendering performance, an FT8 decoder, and support for KiwiSDR, among others.
LHS Episode #573: Ham2K Portable Logger Deep Dive
Q: How are you handling the security and software inventory for those node modules ?
I've been using Dependabot for a couple of things and I try to limit the dependencies as much as I can.
