  • Best Islanders Pod

Dan and Mike perfectly encapsulate what it feels like to be an Isles fan. Totally sensible and irrational at the same time. I catch myself laughing out loud at least once per episode. Jon Sim would be proud

  • Awesome

Love this pod. These guys are both wholly rational and irrational simultaneously. They are the perfect voice of isles fans in that regard! Look forward to all their stuff. I feel like I’ve know them for years. Great guys, funny, don’t take themselves too seriously and have good insight. Definitely worth listening to. Keep up the great work Gents.

  • #1 isles podcast, pure therapy & humor

Hands down, this is the best top shelf liquor of the many Islanders podcasts. I say this with love, hosts Dan & Mike are the biggest geeks in the game, and it’s truly a labor of love for them as this is not their “real” jobs. I have a HS radio background and have a pod cast mic, would be an absolute blast to jump on with these guys someday. No other platform understands the nuances of islanders fandom better, though it’s funny listening to these guys when things go well over a sustained period o... more

  • I’m not even an islanders fan

I am a penguins fan, but I tend to listen to podcasts about our upcoming opponents.

Originally, I expected to only listen to pens adjacent episodes but Mike and Dan sucked me in and I’ve listened to all of their episodes over the last 2 years.

I even (sort of) want the islanders to do well, for their sake.

  • Thanks!

When I moved from Pennsylvania to Brooklyn in 2012, I wanted to adopt one NY sports team. I am a big hockey fan who always hated the Rangers, so the decision was pretty easy. Being in my mid-50s, I also had great memories of the dynasty Islanders.

My decision—while met with great disdain from many of my Pa. pals—felt like fate when the Isles moved to Barclays pretty soon after. I had a team I could root for 15 minutes from home and paid pennies on the dollar for live pucks. What could go wrong... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Monthly Mail Bag podcast - July 2025 - Sample
Q: Which uncle should have Schaefer stay with him when he makes the team either this year or next?
I think Seidenberg is probably the right choice because of his experience, but Pellick is an interesting dark horse because they have trained together.
Monthly Mail Bag podcast - July 2025 - Sample
Q: Respecting that none of us really know anything about player development, what is your preference for the handling of Matthew Schaefer?
I selfishly want to see him play; I think that's pretty simple. But going back to junior doesn't really help him, so it would be the college route or staying with the big club.
Weird Islanders: The Podcast! - Episode 68 - Neil Smith
Q: What made you see in Sillinger?
He wasn't the most talented guy, but he brought great work ethic and was a great team guy.
Weird Islanders: The Podcast! - Episode 68 - Neil Smith
Q: What were your memories of that hiring process?
It was an exciting chance, but I didn't do my homework on the owner.
Weird Islanders: The Podcast! - Episode 66 - Pius Suter & the Training Camp All Stars (with guest Ryan Schaap)
Q: What do you remember about Pius Suter's very brief appearance at Islanders Training Camp in 2018?
He serves as a good reminder about these kind of players that don't always work out, despite seeming like a good fit.
