I like to pod, but it tends to feature maximalist books (particularly Andy) that aren’t for everyone. I like hearing about them anyway, but they can also be wildly ignorant of, or appreciated of, other types of books. This comes out when they look at Best Of lists and straight up haven’t even heard of very well known books or authors. They’re on a reading journey like the rest of us, so no biggie, but some of the things they say about these books they don’t/barely know makes me cringe for them.
Confused about when these guys started reading books? It feels like they have trained themselves to read fiction. When did this training begin?
I used to kinda like this podcast, but they have devolved into a bi-weekly, materialist, listicle pod; usually talking about books they haven’t even read. If you took a shot every time either of them had an actual insight about literature, you would remain very sober indeed. But a great place for discount codes!
I really enjoy this. Great recommendations and good content.
I mean this sincerely. One of the reasons I so enjoy this podcast is that each episode is different, they explore a varied range of topics about books and literature, and I always manage to add another book to my story graph that I want to read. I appreciate that they also hype up Indie press like Vellum but also that I want to join in on the conversation with them. I have to keep my notes app open so I can jot a thought down and a new book that sounds interesting. Great job and thank you for ad... more

Two hosts discuss a wide range of fiction and literary topics, often pairing thoughtful book analysis with personal reading updates. Across recent episodes, they critique popular and challenging works, spotlight indie presses and translation, explore publishing histories, and occasionally feature author or publisher-focused conversations. The show balances rigorous discussion with accessible banter, making it a likely fit for engaged readers who enjoy both deep literary conversation and friendly banter about reading habits, book clubs, and publishing culture. A notable edge is the frequent attention to translation, indie presses, and reading culture, which can appeal to listeners who want less mainstream, more diverse literary perspectives ... more
