The Eyde brothers continued writing each other long after the end of the war. In their letters over the next decades, it’s clear that their experiences in the war changed the course of their lives in dramatic, and in very different, ways.

The voice actors join Dan to discuss the second half of the story, and how those in the armed services are shaped by their experiences with war.

Back at home, Ralph and Frank struggle to recover and readjust to civilian life. Meanwhile, as the Allies move towards victory, John’s role in the war is just about to begin.

Frank has seen his first combat, as Ralph and John prepare for their own deployments. Facing war has the brothers engaged in intense battles -- both physical and mental.

  • I want more.

Absolutely love and appreciate the story of these brothers and the historical context. It felt short to me only in that I wanted more. More of the actual letters. Most likely doesn’t make for a good podcast. Get it. 5 stars. Thank you for telling their story within our history.

This was fantastic, though I wish we’d heard far more of the letters than we did. I’ll check out the website for more info, but I would definitely tune in if ever you guys decided to expand this further and add additional episodes.

  • Thanks for a great podcast

I’m a bit history buff and I’m especially interested in veterans war experience and I’m so glad that I found this podcast. This brought me to a time and place that I didn’t exist but so much appreciate the lives sacrificed for the peace we have today. Stories like these should be told and remembered for generations to come. I hope Frank was able to overcome the demons that were with him and had a peaceful life in the end.
