  • Super informative

Absolutely worth a listen if you’re interested in architecture or are an architect yourself. There’s a Danish element to it, but the lessons translate to anywhere, especially in ‘the West’. Well recorded, clear and well structured. It makes great CPD for architects too.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Using nature to turn billion Euro flooding into life quality bonus
Q: What happened just after inauguration and what did you learn from it?
Five days after opening, a thunderstorm tested the park as water filled the bioswales and created ponds, confirming the system's resilience and teaching the team about dynamic, seasonal behavior and ongoing maintenance needs.
Using nature to turn billion Euro flooding into life quality bonus
Q: What is a bioswale and how does it function in this context?
A bioswale is a natural-water channel lined with vegetation that stores and slows rainwater, delaying its flow and transforming potential flooding into a living landscape that supports biodiversity and community use.
Using nature to turn billion Euro flooding into life quality bonus
Q: What was your take on Bispeparken initially?
The project began as a long, grassy edge between housing blocks, and the team's approach was to involve residents early, prototype ideas, and gradually reframe design around water management that also enhances daily life.
BLOX Unpacked
Q: Is this building ready for the next 10 years, the next 20 years?
Yes, it is extremely flexible and can adapt for the next 50 years.
BLOX Unpacked
Q: How did you end up with OMA, a Dutch studio?
The selection process was not focused solely on Danish teams; competition was internationally open, seeking the best without leaning towards nationalism.
