My dad is from São Miguel in the Azores, and both my vavo and vuvu have passed years ago. I’ve always wanted to learn the Portuguese from the Azores, and it’s really hard to find resources around how to pronounce this dialect.
Hearing you and your mother speak fills me with such pure joy at hearing the Portuguese that my vavo would speak to me as a little girl.

I’m delighted to find your podcast here and on Spotify. I want so much to learn Azorean Portuguese. I am learning European Portuguese but as you know there are differences. Hearing your mãe speak brings back so many wonderful memories of conversations with a minha mãe de direito, who once tried to teach me the language. She even sounds like my mãe de direito! I’m so looking for the next episode. Muito obrigada!
