They must become true learners, not just teachers, and ensure that strategy execution is supported by learning that is timely, relevant, and adaptable to context.

Q: What is the shift that L&D Leaders need to make to design systems where learning naturally happens between people?
Learning must be as relevant as possible to the audience, tied to daily work and goals, so managers become the primary conduit for credible, context-specific learning. Ambassadors or coaches from within the organization help bridge learning to the business, enabling a wider, credible network that scales learning and transformation beyond a central L&D function.

Q: How do you see the role of psychological safety as a precondition for learning in organizations?
Psychological safety is foundational for learning, collaboration, and innovation because it lowers interpersonal risk. When people feel safe, they admit gaps, ask questions, and learn without fear of humiliation, enabling trust and open dialogue across the organization. Safety is contextual and varies by situation, so it must be fostered in every conversation and interaction.

Q: To get us started, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your current role and the kinds of transformations you are working with today?
I'm a Southern Italian living in Finland with about 20 years across countries and industries. My purpose is to make businesses more human-centric, focusing on leadership and culture. I work full-time at Fortum leading Leadership and Culture Transformation, advise at Aalto University Executive Education, and run a boutique consultancy called Dardo. The core of my current work is Fortum's large renewal launched in 2023, blending leadership, culture, and transformation against a backdrop of change.

Q: How has your professional path evolved and what turning points stand out?
Several turning points include moving from teaching to e-learning in the mid-1990s, joining IBM and leading knowledge sharing initiatives, and later shaping learning within Ericsson's R&D and transformation efforts.
