Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Share some of the labour. With Heneliis Notton
Q: What are the practical and artistic considerations when choosing three shows for Stockholm?
The process balances artistic variety, local venues, and production capacities. It involves careful coordination with partners across five institutions, ensuring there are conversations about what fits locally and what represents Baltic voices without forcing a thematic constraint.
Share some of the labour. With Heneliis Notton
Q: How does the festival approach the Baltic identity and the selection of artists without anchoring to nationality?
Artists are described based on where they work and collaborate rather than where they were born; the emphasis is on the cultural work and context they engage with, ensuring practical collaboration with Baltic partners while avoiding rigid national boxes.
Share some of the labour. With Heneliis Notton
Q: What is the concept of Baltic Take Over and why is the name provocative and multi-directional?
It's framed as an invitation to share labor and create a structure where collaboration and care guide the festival, rather than a traditional takeover. It emphasizes consensual cooperation, cross-border dialogue, and adapting to local contexts while rethinking how festivals operate.
Speaking the things that are not spoken. With Jasna Žmak
Q: How did the decision to bring something personal on stage interact with what you felt the audience needed to hear?
The material emerged from personal experiences, including health and sexuality, and grew into broader commentary on theater culture; the aim was to present personal truths as symbols of larger systemic issues rather than targets of blame, inviting reflection rather than confrontation.
Speaking the things that are not spoken. With Jasna Žmak
Q: So my first question is how do you describe yourself in relation to your practice?
I describe myself as primarily a behind-the-scenes writer and dramaturg who has started performing, and I see a clear difference between being a performer and being myself on stage, which has been a central theme in the piece.
