今回は、絶滅した「トキ」と「コウノトリ」がどのように野生復帰を遂げたのかをお話しします。1993年制定の「種の保存法」を背景に、トキは2008年、コウノトリは2005年に放鳥を実現。コウノトリは2022年に野外個体数300羽を超えました。
復帰を支えたのは、無農薬・減農薬で育てた付加価値米が農家の負担なく収益を生み、賛同する農家を増やし、生息環境をさらに改善していく――という無理のない好循環でした。
