Just listened to episode 29 and your conversation on abstract painting. You literally (one of your favourite words) know very little about painting AT ALL. To name one thing, categorising non gestural abstract painting of the early part of the 20th as conceptual is just staggering. I kind of enjoy your social reports, but you need to get an art critic/writer/curator/artist with some credibility to modify your conversations. It’s just clownish at the moment.
I look forward to new episodes each week. Jerry and Matt really know their stuff about the inner workings of the art world and are not afraid to say it how it is. more
Hilde, I love you. I’ve always thought you were in this for the artists. But lately you’ve made your game all about your ego. When you spin a web of your meandering, snobby snark…you sound like someone Jerry Gogosian would hate. When you take your time with your memes and reports you are brilliant, but off the cuff, you sound narcissistic, tone deaf, cruel, and elitist in the worst ways. This podcast has become almost unbearable. Save Jerry before she becomes an art world Kardashian Karen.
I don’t agree with everything but I love hearing all their ideas and opinions. It’s so fun to listen to and I would recommend for anyone wanting to know more about the art world.
Art Smack brings a personal, educated, and fresh perspective of the world of art, often through satire. I find their critic of the art world to be so strong because it is rooted in a love for the arts and artists themselves.
