NPO Radio 1 / NTRNa een overzichtstentoonstelling in Fotomuseum Den Haag besluit fotograaf Jan Banning een sabbatical te nemen. Terwijl felicitaties en lovende recensies binnenstromen, kijkt hij terug op zijn leven en vraagt hij zich af: wat heb ik nou écht veranderd in deze wereld? De succesvolle fotograaf besluit zich in te zetten voor één persoon, een vrouw die hij vijf jaar eerder fotografeerde in een gevangenis in Georgia: Christina Boyer. Banning raakt ervan overtuigd dat Boyer nu al bijna 28 jaar onterecht vastzit voor de moord op haar 3-jarige dochter. Radiomaker Katinka Baehr volgt Banning gedurende een jaar. Het resultaat is de driedelige podcast Jan & Christina, een persoonlijk verhaal van een kunstenaar met een missie. Kan hij meer betekenen zonder camera dan met? Indrukwekkende podcast. Ik hoop een vervolg. Afschuwelijk rechtsysteem, en angstwekkend om te bedenken dat er waarschijnlijk heel veel meer Christina’s bestaan. Heel veel respect voor Christina dat ze het weet vol te houden.

Met grote interesse in het verhaal van Christina heb ik deze podcasts allemaal binnen korte tijd geluisterd. Wat triest dat er nog steeds geen licht voor haar schijnt buiten de gevangenis. Dank voor deze prodcutie en voor alle inzet om het verhaal van Christina naar buiten te brengen. Ik wens Jan en Christina veel sterkte om toch, tegen de stroom in, door te zetten!
