  • Guided Meditations

There are very few voices I can listen to in guided meditations without them being intrusive. Bernie’s voice is low & gentle & beautifully paced with insightful instructions both for the beginner & more experienced. He is is doing these for his students & others during the pandemic so has an integrity & altruism that more commercial mindfulness podcasts lack. Vivi. M

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 255: Sitting on 9-23-25 (Back-to-basics [3 of 4]: Experiencing the Body)
Q: What should I do when my body is in pain during practice? Should I maintain an intense focus on areas of pain or a more dispersed focus?
Gently turn towards the discomfort instead of avoiding it, and remember to approach it skillfully. This can help you learn to manage pain without overwhelming yourself.
Ep. 255: Sitting on 9-23-25 (Back-to-basics [3 of 4]: Experiencing the Body)
Q: How can I maintain mindfulness while still wanting to move or fidget?
Start with small, short sits to build up your practice and be mindful of the urge to fidget. Recognize those urges without giving in immediately and allow everything about your experience to deepen your awareness.
Ep. 255: Sitting on 9-23-25 (Back-to-basics [3 of 4]: Experiencing the Body)
Q: How do you balance what your body is naturally trying to do versus maybe a fuller breath that's actually bringing you?
Let the breath be as it is, even if it's that way. Sometimes in the deepest forms of concentration, the breath is barely noticeable at all, and that's perfectly fine. It's about attending to how the breath feels without trying to control it.
Ep. 253: Sitting on 9-9-25 (Back to basics [1 of 4]: Concentration)
Q: I kept on losing focus. Every single time I lost focus, I kind of got frustrated with myself. Is that normal?
It's very common to feel frustration when losing focus during meditation, but it's important to observe and reframe that frustration rather than see it as a problem.
Ep. 205: Sitting on 9-17-24
Q: What do you suggest doing when you're experiencing ruminating thoughts while performing tasks?
Focus on the physical sensations or presence of others as an anchor to return to the present moment.
