  • Fabulous & informative podcast

I was a little skeptical at first, BUT I became a fan and ended up sharing with a lot of friends. Even if you are not an Orthodox Jew, these topics apply to all humans.

  • Tali is not taking halacha seriously

Ok I listened to all the episodes and I think rabbi Kahan makes very valid points and states halacha simply and clearly and very approachable and possible and then U have Tali a therapist who literally knocks down almost every halacha he quotes!! He quotes reliable sources and she keep saying oh it’s not like that oh people shouldn’t feel guilty oh it’s not reality. She clearly crosses off Chanoch korait from her list because “oh we don’t really understand what that is” you don’t have to unders... more

  • Excellent insights and much to learn from Tali

As a psychotherapist working with abuse survivors, Tali’s insights are spot on and valuable. To open this subject up to the religious population is a must. Better to know and be aware then to hold it within.

  • You don’t have to be Jewish

Thoughtful, respectful discussions presented within the context of Orthodox Judaism but which, with a little imagination, have universal application. So much to learn, to think about. I look forward to every episode of Intimate Judaism. Thank you Talli Rosenbaum, thank you Rabbi Scott Kahn.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

(69) Between Halacha and Reality: Addressing Masturbation and Pornography with Orthodox Teenage Boys
Q: What makes your approach different from traditional religious teaching on masturbation and porn?
Dr. Jacobson emphasizes addressing both halachic constraints and psychological realities, reducing guilt, and providing practical steps to regulate sexuality in a way that fits religious life, rather than presenting a binary of good vs. bad behavior.
(65) Talking About Sex at School: A Conversation with Shuli Taubes
Q: What are the kinds of questions that today's teenagers ask about intimacy and sexuality?
They're inundated with information from social media, and much of it is often incorrect or presented in an unsuitable way.
(65) Talking About Sex at School: A Conversation with Shuli Taubes
Q: Why is it important for kids who are not yet ready to get married to learn about Jewish sexual ethics?
Because we take in so much more when we are young, and the integration of values and ethics starts from an early age.
Relationship Renewal: Commitment and Forgiveness in Elul (Bonus Episode)
Q: How to forgive when there has been betrayal?
You can forgive cognitively and emotionally, but triggers may still occur. This is common when dealing with emotional memories in your limbic brain, and understanding this can help manage feelings of activation without dismissing the forgiveness process.
Relationship Renewal: Commitment and Forgiveness in Elul (Bonus Episode)
Q: How do you move forward and forgive when the other party is not showing regret for what they did and is more showing blame rather than regret?
It's going to be very difficult to move on without a template for the ability to repair, which may lead to harboring resentment. Acknowledging the situation may require grieving for what you don't have and accepting that some individuals carry defenses from previous experiences which affect their ability to show vulnerability.
