First of all, Enda Scahill is one of the greatest living banjo players. His skill is on another level entirely. Some folks say “Bela Fleck is the Enda Scahill of the 5-string banjo. “
Enda is an entertaining talker. I think I could listen to him hold forth on any topic, but he is also a consummate listener and his guests always go deep in their stories. I’ve listened to a number of these podcasts and have been introduced to some wonderful musicians! Enda’s interviewing style is both engaging and entertaining, the discussions of music, history, and personal experience are top quality! This podcast is a tremendous gift to any fan of Irish music and culture!
Growing up watching Hee Haw with my parents, I always enjoyed watching Roy Clark on the banjo. Then I discovered the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in college. I know understand the power and the history of this amazing music and want to learn more, luckily, we have this podcast.
Enda has amazing access to the best banjo players in the Celtic tradition plus masters of other styles of music like Bela Fleck and Ron Block. He is an excellent interviewer who engages his guests on both personal and technical topics. Fascinating stuff! I hope he continues the podcast now that the Covid pandemic has ebbed enough that his band have resumed touring.
I look forward to each of Enda’s interviews. He is an amazing interviewer who is able to bring out not only the how, what and why of the artists’ music but their personalities too. Please keep on giving us your fascinating interviews Enda!
