  • Entertaining but stick to hockey

The boys are great to listen to when they’re talking hockey and Dave’s morning papers on social media is a must in my daily routine. My issue, too many personal opinions on politics and jabs at people or things they may not believe in. Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion but if I wanted opinion on politics I’d tune into literally any mainstream media news outlet. This isn’t about the left, right or center. I came to IC to hear about hockey not personal opinions on politics and to hear jab... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

5/9/26 Illegal Curve Hockey Show
Q: What is Grant McCagg's view on which players could be available at eight and how that affects the Jets' decision?
Grant explains that Rudolph, Carrolls, Reed, Verhoff, and others could be in play, with varying trade-offs, and emphasizes that the Jets might prioritize top-two defensemen or a versatile center while noting draft depth makes the eighth pick valuable for long-term alignment.
Winnipeg Jets end of season media availability: Head coach Scott Arniel
Q: How do you approach rebuilding and getting the players to buy in after a tough season?
I don't regret what I did. Two players have amazing chemistry, but I'm a firm believer that your best players thrive when they are paired in twos. The leadership group is not intimidated by younger players; they want to win and will contribute while remaining accountable.
Winnipeg Jets end of season media availability: Head coach Scott Arniel
Q: Just in terms of what you just said there, and again, you haven't had the chance to get on the grind, but what would you anticipate being your priority once you start to try to right the ship?
I'm going to look at, I'll first and foremost look at kind of our numbers, our analytic numbers. Look at areas. I know where they are. I've been kind of following them all year long. I'll take a little deeper dive with our staff, you know, with management. We'll look at that a little bit more.
Winnipeg Jets end of season media availability: GM Kevin Cheveldayoff
Q: Is it fair to categorize those words as the Jets and yourself being put on notice to get better, to do something?
Connor is an emotional, elite player and the same conversations happen privately; the public statements echo the ongoing internal discussions about how to improve and hold each other accountable.
Winnipeg Jets end of season media availability: GM Kevin Cheveldayoff
Q: Kevin, from a personal point of view for you, with what has happened in the NHL lately, do you feel fortunate to still be able to try to move this team forward?
I feel it's an absolute honor to be in the league and to have the opportunity to try to assemble a group to compete for the Stanley Cup, and I'm not taking that for granted; we'll push forward and evaluate what changes are needed.
