  • New to show but enjoying

I’m a recent new listener with more experience in bird dogs and retrievers. I’m enjoying this podcast.

If I can offer a suggestion - prioritize interviewing folks and asking questions without trying to build in a dozen different lessons. I was very keen to learn about leopard hunting on the latest episode, but we spent 45 minutes describing trophy hunting and several other very basic ideas that the vast majority of concepts your audience is familiar with.

I thoroughly enjoy listening to Chris and his guests. I know it’s tough to get good content consistently, yet Chris seems to always deliver. Great job keeping us informed on how to help Colorado, as well.

Don’t Shoot my Dog Part 3: Justice
Q: So when you go in and you say the dog is worth $50,000, would you think that would be high?
Without context, a $50,000 valuation seems high to a prosecutor; you need data like lifetime earnings, stud fees, and market comparables to justify such a claim and to make it defensible in court.
Don’t Shoot my Dog Part 3: Justice
Q: And what's the goal of describe for our listeners what the purpose is of that plea bargain, because I think a lot of times it gets thrown around and bannered around, even in the media, that plea bargains are...
The plea agreement is a practical resolution that saves costs, reduces risk for both sides, and provides a managed outcome; it's not always a “bargain” in the traditional sense, but a workable compromise that reflects the strength of the case and the interests of victims and society.
Don’t Shoot my Dog: Part 2
Q: What can a victim do to assist investigators during evidence collection?
Preserve records such as GPS data, tracking collars, notes, photos, and witness statements; provide clear timelines, identify who responded, and document distances and locations to help reconstruct events.
Don’t Shoot my Dog: Part 2
Q: What should a victim expect from the initial police response on a dog-shooting incident?
The responder will secure the scene, determine who is who, check for weapons, and gather basic information before starting a formal investigation; it is not an automatic arrest and can take time as evidence is collected and reviewed.
A Breed Apart w/ Mr John Jackson
Q: What is unique about the Plott breed?
John Jackson explains that the Plott breed has a rich, folkloric heritage with a strong tradition of mentorship, storytelling, and fieldwork. The dogs are known for their forest-smarts, resilience, and a culture built around hunting, community, and history more than mere achievement.
