懿萱ss李叔同幼名成蹊，取“桃李不言，下自成蹊”之意。谱名文涛，字息霜。生于天津，祖籍浙江平湖。他是音乐教育家、美术教育家、书画家、戏剧家，中国话剧的开拓者之一。早年留学日本，归国后担任过教师、编辑之职，后剃度为僧，法名演音，号弘一、晚晴老人，被世人尊称为弘一法师。李叔同在诗词、书画、篆刻、音乐、戏剧和文学等领域均造诣非凡，是中国新文化运动和中日文化交流的先驱，先后培养出了画家丰子恺、音乐家刘质平、文学家曹聚仁等文化名人。
本书收录了李叔同的《断食日志》《我的出生与家庭》等不同时期的经典文章，还收录了李叔同对于艺术创作的指导文章，作者与他人的通讯和朱自清和叶圣陶等好友笔下的李叔同。作者是对一念放下，自在洒脱这一主题的多方面诠释，实为“一字千金，值得所有人慢慢阅读、慢慢体味、用一生的时间静静领悟”。
