Stem Cells for Conservation: Trials and Tribulations of a Non-Model System
Q: For the future validation steps in establishing pluripotency and differentiation potential, were there similar studies done in horses or is that just not progressed as far as because you kind of looked at a human and mouse templates?
Horse field has still not published like reprogramming and Sendai, and most of the work that they're focused on is more like mesenchymal stem cell for regenerative medicine for the horses.
Stem Cells for Conservation: Trials and Tribulations of a Non-Model System
Q: Are you hoping to find a unified protocol that a few different lines work with? Or are you looking to do as many lines as possible and maybe each of them kind of have their own protocol?
My pipe dream is to actually have one protocol that will work, but to have like an epigenetic and transcriptomic screening profile that we can test all of the cell lines first and then put them into the protocol.
Stem Cells for Conservation: Trials and Tribulations of a Non-Model System
Q: How far are you from obtaining the different types of pluripotent stem cells that are needed to generate the in vitro embryo models?
We're still working on that. So maybe another year or two. There's only three of us, so it's kind of hard to get all these experiments done.
Mental Health and Resilience
Q: What are the developments around psychedelic therapies, especially when it comes to mental health and aging?
There is great potential for psychedelics, but more research is needed to understand their effective safe applications.
Mental Health and Resilience
Q: What are the major threats to mental health that you see in older adults?
Major threats include pain, untreated depression, loneliness, and grief, which are often not faced openly.
