「作品にタイトルを付けたくない」
そんな一言から、今回の話は始まりました。
写真展でも絵画展でも、作品にはタイトルが付いていることが当たり前です。
作品名があり、キャプションがあり、時には作家自身の解説文まで添えられている。
けれど、ゲストの明水さんは、
「できればタイトルも説明文も付けたくない」
と言います。
最初は少し不思議に感じました。
作品を見てもらうなら、どんな思いで作ったのかを伝えたくなるものではないか。

今回は、前回に引き続き、現代美術作家・画家の林明水さんにお話を伺いました。
テーマは、作品をつくる上での着想やインスピレーションについて。
ぼく自身は写真を撮っていますが、もともと絵を見ることも、絵ができあがるまでの過程を見ることも好きです。ゲームの設定資料集や漫画の画集に載っている、「どう考えて、このキャラクターをデザインしたのか」といった制作の裏側にも惹かれます。
一方で、純粋な絵画、とくに抽象画の世界になると、自分にとってはまだ触れきれていない領域です。

今回は、画家・現代美術作家の林 明水(ミョンス)さんにお話を伺いました。
明水さんは、HANA-STUDIOとして初めて撮影をご依頼いただいた方です。
ライブペインティングや作品制作、古着へのペイントなど、ひとつの形式にとどまらず表現を続けています。
抽象画との出会い、会社員から作家活動へ移っていく過程、そしてこれからのこと。
明水さんの言葉には、強く宣言するような力ではなく、続いていくものが持つ静かな強さがありました。

スペックなのか。メーカーなのか。見た目なのか。それとも、自分の時間が染み込んでいくことなのか。

今回は、前回に引き続きゲストにギタリストのtaroさんをお迎えして、「プロフィール写真って大事だよね」という話をしました。
そもそも、ぼくがポートレートをちゃんと撮るようになったきっかけは、taroさんからプロフィール写真の撮影を頼まれたことでした。
友人であり、アーティストでもある人の写真を撮る。その写真がSNSや仕事の場で使われる。そして、その写真をきっかけに仕事につながった話を聞く。
それは、ぼくにとってもかなり嬉しい体験でした。

テーマは「インストゥルメンタル音楽の魅力」。
“インスト”という言葉は聞いたことがあっても、実際にはどんな音楽なのか、どういう面白さがあるのか、意外と知られていないジャンルかもしれません。

写真を撮るとき、ズームレンズ、単焦点レンズ問わず、使いやすいと感じる「焦点距離」が人それぞれあると思います。 ぼくの場合、シチュエーションによって明確に使い分けていることに最近気がつきました。
その基準は「自分と被写体との距離」と「収めたい範囲」にあります。
